GET A FEEL FOR THE PLACE

For days when you want every shade of green.

Olympic combines mossy forests, mountain views, and a wild Pacific coastline. It is an appealing choice when your group cannot agree between trees and the sea, but its variety comes with real driving distances. Choose one side of the peninsula at a time. A beach or forest day can be the whole point, without squeezing all three ecosystems into one outing.

THE HONEST TRADE-OFF

The diversity is spread out. A single base can create long return drives, and popular forest entrances can have waits.

The moments to make room for.

01

Forest without a hurry

The Hoh Rain Forest offers short and longer walks among moss-covered trees. Allow for access delays in busy periods.

02

A coastline with character

Rialto and other park beaches bring sea stacks, driftwood, and broad ocean views. Tides and surf determine safe access.

03

Mountains, when they appear

Hurricane Ridge offers a different perspective when the road and weather cooperate. Cloud can be part of the day.

GOOD ON PAPER. RIGHT FOR YOU?

Let’s see how this park fits your trip.

Your timing and travel style matter as much as the view.

One day, a little more slowly.

A suggested rhythm, not a live itinerary. Check access and allow for travel between stops.

Morning

Give the Hoh your attention

From a west-side base, visit the Hoh Rain Forest if access is open and choose a walk that fits your group.

Afternoon

Make the coast your second act

Head toward the Mora coast, leaving generous driving time. Check tides and weather before selecting a beach walk.

Evening

Stay on the west side

Return to a nearby base instead of crossing the peninsula again. Save the northern mountains and Lake Crescent for another day.

The details that shape the day.

Split your bases

For a longer visit, consider nights near Port Angeles and near the west coast to reduce repeated driving.

Check tides, not just sunset

Some coastal routes can be cut off by water. Consult official coastal guidance and avoid logs in active surf.

Keep a weather alternative

Choose a forest or lake option if mountain views or road access do not cooperate, and check each area's current status.
